At JEM Canine Coaching, our puppy classes will teach you various puppy training techniques to help you and your puppy have the best start in life. We also offer dog training classes in the form of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme
At JEM Canine Coaching, we try to make the classes, helpful, informative and enjoyable.
This class runs on Monday evenings.
Each class lasts for 50 minutes and in that time we will teach you various techniques including;
Our classes are designed to work towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Foundation Award, with a view to moving on to Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.
We aim to have no more than 6 puppies/dogs in any class, but due to holidays/illness etc, there may be the odd occasion where there are 1 or 2 extra.
To join the classes, all we ask is that the puppies have had their 2nd vaccinations, are microchipped and correctly identifiable with a collar and tag, (tags must have owners Name and Address by law, any other information is optional).
Puppy classes are just £79 for a 6 week course. The booking fee of £19 (non refundable) will secure your place, with the balance payable on your first session.
For more information, see GCDS Puppy
This class runs on Monday evenings. The training covered is as above, but for older puppies (6 - 12 months) and larger breeds
This class is aimed at dogs of any age. It follows the basic structure of the Puppy class, with some time working on other problems you may have. It is open to dogs of any breed/age (over 6 months) that may have some issues or just need some refresher training.
The Bronze Award aims to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner. It is a basic standard that all adult dogs can achieve with correct handling. Owners must show that they have means of picking up after their dog and that their dog is wearing a lead and collar with name and the address of the owner inscribed on the collar/disc to take part.
For more information, see GCDS Bronze
The Silver Award aims to build on the skills learned in the Bronze award whilst increasing the level of difficulty. It is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as greeting a friend, vehicle control and a road walking exercise which are vital in everyday life situations.
For more information, see GCDS Silver
The Gold Award is the highest level of achievement within the Scheme awards. It builds upon the skills learnt in the Silver Award and develops more advance training skills of the dog and handler. The Gold Award introduces new concepts such as sending a dog to Bed, Relaxed Isolation, an Emergency Stop and Heelwork off the lead, all of which provide greater understanding and control. This is for dogs over 1 year old.
